Weight Watchers iPhone App: Tracking Your Weight Was MY Idea

This may or may not be news, but I noticed yesterday that my Weight Watchers app on my iPhone was greatly improved!  I remember emailing them a while back, requesting that they add weight tracking and "Healthy Checks" to the features to make the app more worthwhile. I love tracking my Points, but if I don't log my weight right when I do it, I'll forget... even in the short time it takes for my laptop to boot up.  And I never remembered to log my water or vitamins.

So, OK, it wasn't my idea -- certainly I wasn't alone in my request, but it's wonderful to know that they really listened and brought out a vastly improved application.  They rolled out the little 'menu' tab along the bottom a while ago, but on June 12th, instead of just Points tracking and recipes, they included Healthy Checks (your daily vitamin, water, veg count, etc), Weight Tracker (so you can actually log your weight instead of just looking at the graph), a more robust Cheat Sheet offering and what appears to be the start of a social network.

There's My Profile area that allows you to update your status, shows your photo, milestones and accomplishments for the day (food logging, activity and water). It's also got tabs along the top for recipes and photos, so I'm assuming you can share your own recipes and progress photos, as well.  I noted in the status updates that others can comment on your status, as well.

There's also a My Friends area that shows your WW Community friends so you can connect and easily keep track of their activity and contributions. (My username is downwithdonuts if you want to be my friend!)

And... right on cue my new iPhone 4G just arrived from FedEx, so I best get myself to the Apple store before the masses overrun the place tomorrow.  Looking forward to using the improved Weight Watchers app so much more now!  Do you use it?  What do you think?

The iPhone app looks like MY kind of Weight Watching! I’m in the traditional Meet-Once-a-Week program and I can’t tell you how much I HATE my little paper tracker. I’m part of the technologically-savvy generation. Why write when you can type? And why be tethered to your laptop? Do it on the run!

I’ve been trying to work up the gumption to really do something about this extra *mumble* pounds following me around.  Sad to say in some ways, but I think this app may have a lot to do with my giving in and signing up.  And friending you would certainly be a bonus. :)

My droid has an app for WW also, but I have to wait for adobe flash to update to droid 2.2 before I can actually use it.

That’s one of my favorite things about the Weight Watchers Online program. It really feels like they are constantly updating and improving the program. I haven’t tried the new app (I’ve always followed used my laptop) but it looks like I might need to start!
